Artist Profile: Blossom Dearie
Born in upstate New York in 1926, Marguerite Dearie was affectionately named Blossom by her Scottish father after he noticed peach tree blossoms shortly after her birth. Maybe he knew she would grow to possess a small, child-like voice and gentle touch at the piano for Blossom became the perfect name for a woman who would interpret songs from the Great American Songbook for the following 80 years.
